How to prepare for a transvaginal examination?

A special degree of preparation such a procedure does not require and can be carried out at any stage of the menstrual cycle . So, for example, if the establishment of endometriosis is foreseen, then gynecological transvaginal ultrasound should be done during the second phase of the cycle, and if it is required to confirm the presence of uterine myoma - then in the first. In any case, it is necessary to agree a session with the attending physician or the operator.

Transvaginal ultrasound in pregnancy

If the bearing is normal, then this kind of research can be carried out on the period from 11th to 14th week. On longer terms, it is better to replace it with transabdominal, which is less of a threat to the fetus. A more specific assessment of the pelvic organs in a non-pregnant woman can be given by a transvaginal hydrolaparoscopy. It involves the implementation of a small incision of the vagina, through which the finest probe is inserted and a detailed examination of the uterus, appendages, and the walls of the small pelvis. There is also the possibility of micro-operations.

Women who suffer from infertility are advised to undergo transvaginal echography. This method allows to assess the state of the inner shell of the uterus, namely the endometrium, at different stages of the menstrual cycle, the degree of maturation of the follicles, the presence of hormonal disorders and the reason for the absence of ovulation, observe the process of puncture, and so on.
