Breathing during childbirth

For every woman who is just about to be delivered, breathing and behavior during this period seems to be something incomprehensible and unpredictable. Nevertheless, it is important to learn the breathing technique at delivery before the fights begin, because this is perhaps the most important thing that a woman should be able to do well.

How to breathe correctly during fights ?

How to breathe in the bouts depends on the period of labor. At the very beginning of the fight, short and weak. To alleviate them, you can use slow ("economical") inhalation and exhalation. To do this, you need to breathe in deeply and slowly change the inhalation and exhalation, the last one must be prolonged. This allows you to optimize energy costs, heartbeat, improve the supply of oxygen to the body. It is very important to learn this beforehand. Within a week (not less), it is necessary to train the elongation of exhalation while controlling the pulse. So, at the very beginning you need to exhale with your mouth, relieve tension, and calmly, slowly and continuously inhale with your nose. In the period between infrequent spasms it is important to learn to relax and rest.

At fights which began to become frequent, the breath should be calm and measured, for maintenance at sorts of an anesthetizing effect. It should be remembered that the more severe and prolonged is the contraction, the slower and deeper should be the inhalations and exhalations.

Breath-like canine at delivery helps to relieve pain. It consists in breathing a nose or mouth at a rate of 1-2 breaths / expiration per second during a violent spasm. The intake of air should be quiet, while the exhalation is noisy. To prevent the mouth and lips from drying up due to excessive moisture evaporation, you can recommend covering your mouth with your hand. Those who are around can help a woman rinse her mouth with water. When the spasm passes, you need to breathe again economically.

How to breathe in attempts ?

The technique of correct breathing during labor during the attempts differs from the breathing technique during fights. Particularly responsible is the moment when the fetal head begins to squeeze the tissues of the initial department of the birth canal, but it is impossible to push. This may be due, for example, incomplete opening of the cervix. If the woman is pushing, the perineal tissues can be seriously damaged, and the child can also be injured. To prevent this from happening, they practice so-called breathing "at the expense": they begin with 4 shallow inhalation-exhalations, and the last full and prolonged exhalation is carried out through the lips, folded into a tube. This allows a woman to mentally switch from trying to make an effort in a different direction. Since a woman in labor can be extremely difficult to focus on the account, a spouse or midwife can help her with this.

At attempts, breathe as deeply as possible with the subsequent swallowing of this air, so that all its volume presses against the diaphragm, and beyond account it - at the bottom of the uterus, pushing the fruit. When there is a sense of lack of air, you need to release the existing air from the lungs and swallow it again. This is how diaphragmatic breathing occurs during childbirth. It is important, however, not to push the "head" so that the forces are not wasted in vain.

Breath rates for pregnant women are the best choice for expectant mothers, as during training often it is impossible to learn proper behavior due to pain, discomfort and excitement. It is much more correct to prepare in advance for how a woman in childbirth should behave in order to reduce pain, and to avoid injuries.
