Cagón Falls

Japan is one of those countries that every traveler dreams of visiting at least once in his life. In addition to beautiful architecture, futuristic city-megalopolises and absolutely unique culture, this country is famous for its incredibly beautiful nature, the landscapes of which inspire artists to write masterpieces for centuries. Among the main natural attractions of Japan, many tourists highlight the picturesque Kegon Falls (Kegon Falls) - one of the largest in the state.

What is interesting about the Cagong Falls in Japan?

Cagón Falls is located on the island of Honshu, in the territory of one of the most beautiful national parks in Japan Nikko (Nikkō National Park). The height of the waterfall reaches almost 100 m, which makes it at the same time and one of the highest in the country. Kegon is the only outlet for the waters of Lake Chuzenji, formed as a result of the eruption of Nantai stratovolcano that woke up many years ago. Nearby there are 12 small waterfalls that flow through the numerous cracks between the mountains and lava flows.

Every year thousands of tourists come to Nikko to capture the amazing beauty of the Kagon waterfall in Japan. In the park there are several viewing platforms, from which vacationers can enjoy the incredible spectacle of falling from the 100-meter height of the boiling water flow. Despite the numerous cases of suicides and falls (mainly for young Japanese people), climbing most of the viewing platforms is completely free and free. But if you want to get the best shots and unforgettable impressions, it is worthwhile to climb to the only paid platform from where the whole waterfall is visible as if on the palm of your hand (entrance for 1 adult is about 2 cu).

The best time to visit the national park is autumn (mid-to-late October), when the leaves of the trees are painted in rich yellow, red and brown colors. At the minus temperature, clear water almost completely freezes, and therefore in winter Kagon waterfall looks great.

How to get there?

You can get to the Nikko National Park either independently, on your own or rented car , or as part of the tour group. Further, an experienced guide who can be hired in an administration located directly at the entrance to the park, takes you to the waterfall and tells the most interesting facts from his long history.
