Ozone therapy - contraindications

One of the most popular modern methods of physiotherapeutic treatment is ozone therapy. It consists in exposure to the body of gas with ozone (active oxygen) - it is synthesized by special medical devices. Many positive reviews have been written about this procedure, however, do not forget that, like any treatment technique, ozone therapy has certain contraindications.

Methods of treatment with ozone

The effect of active oxygen on the body is carried out in different ways. An ozone-saturated solution can be administered intravenously via a dropper. Popular combination of ozonotherapy with autohemotherapy (introduction of intramuscularly to his patient's blood). Another method is ingestion of distilled water or ozone-enriched oil. Rectal insufflation (blowing ozone enriched mixture into the rectum) and inhalation with ozonized oil or water are also performed.

The most common way of exposure to enriched oxygen per person is by subcutaneous injection. Such ozone therapy is used to rejuvenate the face and to lose weight, but this procedure also has contraindications.

Who should not be treated with ozone?

Categorically contraindicated therapy with the use of active oxygen to people who underwent myocardial infarction , peritonitis, stroke. It is impossible to carry out the procedure and with a violation of clotting (thrombocytopenia), kidney disease, thyroid gland, liver. If you suffer from hypotension, you will most likely have to refuse treatment with ozone until the pressure is restored.

Individual cases of intolerance to ozone have been documented, so before the start of the session, this point should be discussed with the doctor. Also, you should report all the diseases and medications taken. This is especially true of anticoagulants - ozone therapy, performed during their intake, can cause side effects and consequences in the form of bleeding.

Clinic selection

Treatment with active oxygen is now very popular, which is why many clinics appear, where they offer services of questionable quality. Equally important is the qualification of the doctor. When used in cosmetology, ozone therapy, the contraindications to which are the same as for ozone treatment as a whole, consists in splitting the face, neck and other problem areas with a syringe with a needle. It is important that immediately after a careful introduction of the ozone-containing mixture, the doctor carefully massaged the injection site. Otherwise, there may be tubercles and swelling.

Also the doctor is obliged to ask about all the transferred diseases and tell about the contraindications of the procedure. If this does not happen, it is better to change the clinic.

Ozone therapy for expectant mothers

Strangely enough, but having an extensive list of contraindications, during pregnancy, ozonotherapy is still applied. The procedure can save a child when a threat of miscarriage occurs.

Effective treatment with active oxygen and with colds - antiviral and immunostimulating effect of ozone positively affects the health of the future mother and protects her from frequent ARVI. Appointment of such a procedure should be solely by the attending physician with the consent of the obstetrician-gynecologist.

Alternative opinion

Although scientific harm to ozone therapy has not been proven, according to some doctors, the procedure is dangerous. Their opinion is based on the fact that oxygen takes part not only in the processes of rejuvenation, but also in the processes of aging. Skeptics believe that if there is tissue hypoxia, oxygen "delivered" into the body from the outside will not be absorbed anyway, as oxygen is not absorbed by the body from the air. The reason for this is the peculiarity of cell metabolism, and not the lack of O2.

It is worth noting that in many countries intravenous administration of ozone is prohibited. In addition, this gas is very toxic by inhalation.
