Urogenital trichomoniasis

Urogenital trichomoniasis is an infectious disease of the genitourinary system, which is caused by a vaginal trichomonas (Trichomonas vaginalis) - the simplest single-celled organism.

The main way of transmission is through sexual contacts. Very rarely occurs infection by domestic means. In the structure of all urethrogenic sexual infections, this disease occurs in every tenth patient. Invasion with urogenital trichomonads is promoted by a shift in the hormonal background and a change in the level of acidity in the vagina.

Symptoms of urogenital trichomoniasis

In women, trichomoniasis is manifested by severe purulent-mucous membranes and foamy vaginal secretions, itching in the external genitalia, a painful process of urination.

Men also have itching and severe purulent-mucous discharge with airy vesicles.

If you do not take measures to treat the infection, then it goes first to the torpid stage, and then acquires a chronic course characterized by periodic exacerbations.

The diagnosis of urogenital trichomoniasis is based on the symptoms of the disease and the analysis of biological material using immunological, express methods, culture cultures, polymerase chain reaction.

Treatment of urogenital trichomoniasis

Therapy of this disease should be performed by all sexual partners of the patient with the detected trichomonas. The treatment uses protistocidal drugs: Metranidazole, Tinidazole.

To treat female trichomoniasis along with protistocidal drugs, the Solcotrihovac vaccine is used.

For patients with fresh complicated, fresh torpid, and chronic trichomoniasis, a complex treatment is applied, that is, in addition to protistocidal drugs, fermento-, immuno- and physiotherapy plus washing the urethra with a solution of boric acid, furacilin, furozolidone, mercuric hydroxyanide, silver nitrate; also conduct urethral installations with a sarsol-acrichinic suspension, a suspension of wasarsol, a solution of protargol.

The patient is considered cured if repeated pathogens are not detected in the biological material within 1-2 months after the repeated tests.
