When to do HCG in late ovulation?

Quite often, women have difficulty in conducting early diagnosis of pregnancy. So, in particular, doctors often hear from young women a question that concerns directly when it is necessary to do a test for the level of hCG in the presence of late ovulation and when it shows pregnancy in that case. Let's try to answer it.

What is "late ovulation"?

As is known, it is normal in gynecology to assume that ovulation occurs directly in the middle of the menstrual cycle, i.e. on the 14-16th of his day. However, in practice, there may be an option where the egg yield occurs much later than the indicated dates. So if ovulation is observed only on the 19th day of the cycle and later, it is said that it is late.

How and when to do a test with late ovulation?

As you know, implantation of a fertilized egg occurs on the 7th day from the moment of ovulation. In this case, the level of hCG begins to gradually increase. Normally, to diagnose pregnancy, it is necessary to perform a test on the 15th day of the cycle, which corresponds to the first day of delay.

However, with late ovulation, the concentration of hCG reaches diagnostic values much later. Therefore, the test should be carried out approximately 18-20 days after sexual intercourse (with normal ovulation, pregnancy can be diagnosed as early as 14-15 days after sex).

It is also worth noting that the algorithm of the test itself is of no small importance. Do it only in the morning. The thing is that it is at this time the concentration of the hormone hCG in the body of pregnant women is the highest that is necessary for normal diagnosis.

However, it is worth considering that when establishing the fact of pregnancy at a very short time, there may be false-negative results, i.e. with the present gestation, the test result will be negative. In such situations, it must be repeated after 3-5 days.
