A tooth of wisdom - the gum hurts

A wisdom tooth, also known as a third molar, causes a lot of problems when it starts "its activity": aching pains, swollen gums, bleeding, fever - all these "gifts" it brings to its owner. Unfortunately, sooner or later many people have to experience themselves again as a child whose teeth are pricked, but only now the situation is more complicated, because the eight grow up to last, and the size of the jaw may not be calculated for new teeth, and then the eruption becomes extremely painful. Basically, all the pain from the tooth of wisdom is associated with the gum: it swells and it hurts.

Let's see why this happens and what to do in such cases.

If the tooth of wisdom is cut and the gum hurts

Why is this happening? When the wisdom tooth climbs, it is natural that the gum hurts too, namely the part called "hood": it covers the crown, and of course, it is damaged due to the growth of the tooth. Usually the pain is stronger when the lower eight are erupted.

What to do? If the pain is accompanied by swelling, the temperature rises and the cheek swells up, then the hood infection, pericoronitis, most likely has occurred. He is treated surgically: by removing the hood or tooth. Together with this, a person takes antibiotics for a week before surgery to reduce the risk of complications.

If the wisdom tooth is growing and the gum simply hurts, without the symptoms of infection, then rinse your mouth for several days with a decoction of chamomile or sage that relieve inflammation.

If the gum has inflamed at the erupted wisdom tooth

Why is this happening? Most often, eight erupt very long, this process drags on for months: first one part of the crown appears, and another time later. And when the second part comes, the gum can get sore and inflame the same way as the first time. Another reason for the sore and inflammation of the gum near the wisdom tooth is bacteria. Eights are beyond the rest of the teeth, and therefore they are difficult to clean: a special brush with a protruding tip is needed. Of course, inadequate hygiene leads to inflammation of an infectious nature. If swollen and aching gum near the wisdom tooth, it is possible that this is a sign of flux - inflammation of the periosteum.

What to do? To begin with, you can try to take anti-inflammatory drugs: imeth, nimesil, aspirin, diclofenac, etc. As a local anti-inflammatory treatment you can use soda, salt and iodine. In a glass of water, dissolve 1 tsp. soda, 0.5 tsp. salt and a few drops of iodine. If these drugs do not help, you need to see a doctor so that he prescribes an antibiotic and has an operation if it is a flux.

If the wisdom tooth is removed and the gum is now hurting

Why is this happening? Most often this happens either with insufficient sterility of the instruments during the operation, or by infection through the patient's fault (failure to follow the doctor's instructions for gum care after removing the figure-eight). Also, the soreness of the gums may persist because of the high pain threshold.

What to do? First you need to drink anesthetic. Its effectiveness from toothache is well proven ketorol, but if it is not, you can apply other analgesics. Also, if the removal occurred a few days ago, it is already possible to rinse the gum with antibacterial solutions. In case of fistula formation or fever, you should consult a doctor.

If the gum receded from the wisdom tooth

Why is this happening? When the wisdom tooth grows, the gum swells and can be rejected: this is the natural process of erupting the figure-eight. If the gum hurts near the wisdom tooth, and in addition to rejection there is swelling, an increase in body temperature, and if the lymph nodes are enlarged, then most likely it is a bacterial infection.

What to do? In the first case, with rejection, redness and a slight swelling of the gum, and also with an unexpressed pain syndrome, it is enough to rinse your mouth with soda, chamomile, sage or propolis. In the second case, it will be appropriate to use antibiotics, and possibly, surgical intervention is needed.
