The first symptoms of asthma in a child
The harbingers of this formidable disease are the three main signs that can be described as follows:
- transparent, mucous discharge of liquid consistency from the nasal passages after a night's sleep;
- two to three hours after awakening, a dry short cough begins in the baby;
- in the second half of the day, cough becomes stronger and sputum begins to stand out.
As a rule, all these symptoms appear in the child 2-3 days before the onset of asthma and require immediate medical treatment.
Symptoms of asthma in children under one year
The main symptom of this disease is a cough that is paroxysmal. In addition, there are still symptoms that indicate the presence of asthma in an infant:
- as a rule, a coughing attack begins immediately after awakening;
- a baby can have an attack if it is in a horizontal position for a long time;
- cough will become less if the crumb is seated vertically or put on its feet;
- shortly before the attack the baby begins to be capricious, tk. nasal congestion prevents breathing;
- the baby has a quick breathing, shortness of breath, and the inhaled and exhaled air is accompanied by a whistling noise.
Symptoms and symptoms of asthma in children older than a year
In older children, the following characteristics are added to these attributes:
- when you try to breathe through your mouth, there is almost always an attack of dry cough;
- over time, there is a strong pressure in the chest;
- the child does not get a full breath;
- In the case of crumbs, one can notice tearing of the eyes, redness and itching of the skin.
Symptoms of allergic asthma in children always occur when there is an irritant: dust, flowering plants, pet hair, mold on walls, etc. Whereas a disease with a non-allergic etiology causes a strong sensitivity of the crumbs organism to infectious allergens. It is worth remembering that if long-term cough and nasal congestion is absent, then this is a serious reason for consulting a doctor for the presence of asthma in a child. Correctly and timely treatment is a good chance that the initial (easy) stage of the disease does not develop into a serious one, when children are assisted in a hospital in a medical institution.
