Birthmark

At least a couple of birthmarks have every person. They can be located in the most prominent place or be hidden there, where it is almost impossible to find them. Birthmarks or as they are called - nevi - special skin marks, which in most of their health hazards do not represent. But there are such species of moles, at the sight of which it is desirable to immediately consult a dermatologist.

The main varieties of birthmarks

Perhaps for you it will be a surprise, but in fact there are quite a lot of moles, although at first glance most of the marks look almost the same (well, or notice the difference is very difficult). All of them, as can be understood from the title, appear on the human body at birth. A small part of the moles is formed on the skin in the first years of life.

Conditionally, all birthmarks on the chest, arms, legs, face can be divided into two categories:

Ordinary birthmarks are often small. The color of these specks can vary from light brown to dark black. Moles do not protrude above the surface of the skin and in most cases are covered with hairs from above. Such specks are completely harmless. The danger is represented by birthmarks of light color, on which there is no hair cover. In theory, they can develop into melanoma.

The name of the second group of birthmarks speaks for itself - they consist of a large number of small sosudars, which are perfectly visible under a microscope. Moles of this type usually rise slightly above the surface of the skin and acquire a reddish hue.

All birthmarks on the head, face, hands can also be divided into groups depending on their appearance and size:

  1. Spots "coffee with milk" - non-hazardous pigmentation spots ranging in size from a few millimeters to several centimeters. Throughout life, such marks do not grow, increasing solely due to the growth of their owners. The cause for concern can only be the appearance of several (up to ten) spots of "coffee with milk."
  2. Blue nevus - a mark up to a couple of centimeters. There is such a mole most often on the face , in the collarbone area, on the chest.
  3. Halo-nevus - a birthmark in the form of a small nodule (about five millimeters), surrounded by a rim of light skin. Basically, such birthmarks appear on the hands, on the legs, neck, face they are extremely rare.
  4. Strawberry hemangiomas are vascular birthmarks. Markings are growing rapidly, and having reached the right size, stop in growth. There are strawberry marks mostly on the face, back, chest, under the hair. Although they look specifically, they do not harm health.
  5. White birthmarks are anemic or depigmented nevi. They are formed when melanocytes completely disappear in certain areas of the skin. It can happen under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, because of nervous surges, regular injuries.

Removing birthmarks

Most conventional moles do not need to be removed. First, there is no point in this. Secondly, many of them disappear in the process of life independently. The operation may be required only if the birthmark is located in a place where it will be constantly irritated: in the collar zone, on the palms, feet.

To remove birthmarks you can use different methods:

A suitable treatment is selected by a dermatologist on an individual basis. In most cases, the treatment is successful.
