When sewing blankets for newborns , the main thing is that it's light and comfortable in everyday use, so moms often make a blanket-trasformer. For babies it is necessary to have a baby blanket not exceeding 1.2х1.2 m. The blanket for newborns is sewn from soft natural fabrics: linen or cotton, and from fillers for a blanket to a newborn to use better than hippoallergenic wool and bamboo or holofayber, koforel, tinsulite and sintepon.
Master-class: how to sew a blanket-transformer for a newborn with their own hands
It will take:
- outer fabric and pleasant internal fabric - 1х1,1м;
- filler (sintepon) - 1х1м;
- a blanket for a newborn;
- wide elastic band - 50 cm;
- detachable zipper - 50 cm;
- ordinary lightning - 20 cm;
- oblique bake - 1 m;
- Threads, scissors, pins, chalk and sewing machine.
- We cut out of two fabrics and a sintepon three squares in the size 90х85см with an allowance of 1-1,5 cm.
- We put the pattern of the pocket on the remains of the tissues and cut them out with the allowance of 1 cm.
- We fold the two sides of the pocket with the front sides and spend it on the long side at the top.
- We turn and iron the seam.
- From the seam from above at a distance slightly wider than the width of the elastic we put out again.
- We insert an elastic band into the kuliska so that its length is 45 cm, leaving on each side 2.5 cm of rubber. We fix the fabric with the elastic band and pin it.
- We sew the edges of the pocket along the sides of the bake.
- From the bottom to the center of the front side of the outer fabric we put the front side of the pocket and sew it on the sides so that its sides are perpendicular to the line of the bottom of the fabric.
- Lay out the fabrics in this order: sintepon - to the sintepon by the inside - the inner fabric - the face to the inner fabric - the outer fabric.
- Between the tissues we have zippers: from the top in the middle - short in unbuttoned form, on the sides - parts of a long detachable.
- We find the middle of the envelope, where we will fasten the base of the upper small zipper, put it so that the denticles look "inside the envelope," and fix it.
- The side zippers are fastened with pins to the front side of the outer fabric, make sure that the zippers of the lightning look inward, and not to the edge, and the dog is face to the tissue.
- Pinned lightning signs and check how they will be fastened.
- We fix the pocket with pins at the bottom and mark the center of the bottom of the blanket.
- We spread the bottom from the planned center to the edges of the blanket first to one side, and then to the other.
- Stitch the left side with the zipper, and then the right side, starting from the bottom and ending 15 cm to the top edge.
- We sweep the upper part from the edges to the center and spread it out.
- We turn the blanket through the hole left and check the seams and zippers. Then, from the underside of the edge and corners, we cut and sew the hole with a hidden seam.
- Putting the blanket down with your pocket, zip up the detachable zipper, turn out your pocket and zip up the hood.
- Our blanket-transformer is ready.
Such a blanket for the newborn, made by own hands, can be used also when the child grows up.
