Cuero-e-Salado


One of the most beautiful National Parks of Honduras, Cuero y Salado, is located on the Caribbean coast just 30 km from the city of La Ceiba .

Park Ecosystems

The nature reserve area is formed by the mouths of the Cuero and Salado Rivers, in addition, the park includes a coastline. The area of ​​the reserve is large and is about 13 thousand hectares, which are rich in water, tropical and mangrove forests, swamps. It is not surprising that such a diverse ecosystem is inhabited by countless animals, many of which are rare or endangered species.

Inhabitants of Cuero-i-Salado

According to the scientists' observations, there are 35 species of mammals, 9 species of monkeys, 200 species of birds, and 120 species of fish in the territory of the National Park of Kuro-i-Salado. Manmantines and jaguars are especially valuable representatives of the mammalian class. In addition, here you can find turtles, crocodiles, caimans, eagles, hawks and other representatives of the animal kingdom of Honduras.

Also on the territory of the reserve of Cuero-i-Salado is the Pico Bonito reserve. Its main task is to preserve tropical rain forests, the slopes of the Rio Aguan valley, the river flowing in this area.

Helpful information

The national park of Cuero-i-Salado welcomes guests daily from 06:00 to 18:00. The most suitable for visiting are considered the morning hours, when there is no scorching sun and annoying insects.

Entrance to the reserve territory is paid. The ticket price for adults is $ 10, for students, pensioners and children - $ 5. Moving for the most part of the park of Cuero-i-Salado is possible only on boats, and the more passengers are accommodated in it, the lower the price of the ticket.

How to get there?

To reach the National Park of Cuero-i-Salado, you can only go by ferry, which leaves from La Ceiba and commits several flights a day. Their frequency depends on the number of people wishing to visit the reserve.
