What is this preparation and whether it is possible for children diazolin?
Diazolin belongs to the group of antihistamines. This means that its active substance (mebhydrolyn) has an antiallergic effect, removing the symptoms of the reaction and reducing the effect of histamine on smooth muscle. Contrary to popular belief, pronounced hypnotic effect diazolin does not, it also does not differ appreciable sedative effect.
The medicinal effect of the remedy manifests itself in 20-35 minutes, and reaches its peak in 1.5-2 hours. After this, the severity of the action gradually decreases, but it can persist for up to two days.
For children, a special pediatric form of the drug is produced, characterized by a lower concentration of the active substance (0.05 g). The appointment of children under the age of 2 years is undesirable, with 2-3 years is widely used to remove allergic reactions and their prevention.
Indications for use of diazoline
In diazolin, indications for use in children and adults are the same:
- skin reactions (including after the bite of insects);

Diazolin: contraindications
Diazoline can not be used in the following cases:
- hypersensitivity or intolerance to the components of the drug;
- peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;
- epilepsy;
- hyperplasia of the prostate;
- pyloric stenosis;
- angle-closure glaucoma;
- violations of the rhythm of the heart muscle;
- inflammatory processes in the digestive tract;
- with caution applied to renal or hepatic insufficiency.
Diazolin for children: dosage
Depending on the degree of manifestation of symptoms, concomitant diseases, age and general health of the patient, the dose and interval between doses of the drug may vary (according to the doctor's decision). Standard dosage:
- children 2-5 years - 0.05 g twice a day;
- children 5-10 years - 0.05 g 2-3 times a day;
- 10-12 years - 0,05 g 3-4 times a day;
- over 12 years - 0.1g from one to three times a day.
Tablets should be taken without chewing, squeezed with enough warm non-carbonated pure water during meals or immediately after it.
