Features of the volcano Rincon de la Vieja
Stratovulcan Rincón de la Vieja is one of the most visited places in Costa Rica . It is located in the north-western part of the country, near the administrative center of the province of Guanacaste in the city of Liberia . Its dimensions are really impressive: the volcano reaches a height of almost 2000 meters!
The volcano has 9 craters, but only one of them is considered active. However, this is not its main feature: at the foot of Rincon de la Vieja there are thermal springs, bathing in which is very useful both for general sanitation and for the treatment of certain diseases.
Rincon de la Vieja National Park
Around the volcano itself is a wonderful national park of the same name with an area of 12 759 hectares. This place is considered one of the most picturesque in Costa Rica. Surprising and interesting local flora and fauna: the park has many rare plant species, for example, a purple orchid is a very fragile plant, the petals of which form a rather large flower. To find the flowering period of this beauty, go on a tour of the park in late February - early April.
As for the animal world, in the park Rincon de la Vieja you can meet wild boar, puma, mountain goat, deer and many others. Bird watching, of which there are more than 300 species, is also popular among tourists.

The volcano Rincon de la Vieja is located 25 kilometers from one of the main resort towns of Costa Rica - Liberia. It is also the second largest international airport in the country, where you can book an excursion to the park. You can also transfer here from the hotel, the cost of this service is about $ 20.
