Antibiotics for boils

About half of the people on Earth are carriers of Staphylococcus aureus, which may not manifest itself for a long time. But if you just relax the immune defense, this bacterium can "wake up" and cause various diseases. Most often staphylococcus affects the skin, is the cause of nosocomial purulent infections, as well as more complex diseases - meningitis, pneumonia, osteomyelitis, etc.

One of the inflammatory diseases caused by golden staphylococcus and affecting the skin, is considered furunculosis. It is characterized by the appearance of purulent formations around the hair shaft and affects not only the follicle, but also the sebaceous gland and nearby tissues. These pus containing formations are called furuncles. Only a dermatologist can tell exactly which antibiotics and how to take with furuncles. In general, intramuscular injections are used to treat the furuncle with antibiotics (with chronic furunculosis or its appearance against the background of severe immune diseases).

Antibiotic therapy for furunculosis

As a rule, antibiotics of the cephalosporin pharmacological group are used to treat furuncles. Consider the main drugs.

  1. Cefazolin. Antibiotic with bactericidal and antimicrobial effects. When administered, it reaches its maximum concentration in the blood for an hour. It is not prescribed to pregnant and newborn children, and also in the presence of sensitivity to cephalosporins. The recommended dose is 1 gram twice a day.
  2. Ceftriaxone. A more modern preparation, which also has bactericidal and antimicrobial properties. Its recommended dose is 1 gram once every 24 hours. The maximum concentration with intramuscular injection is achieved within 2-3 hours. With caution, the drug is used in the presence of liver or kidney deficiency, as well as with gastrointestinal diseases (colitis, enteritis).

Other drugs of this group are also used.

Ointment for furunculosis

With single boils it is possible to use local remedies with antibiotics in the form of ointments. Ointments from furuncles with antibiotic are applied to the affected area with a thin layer 2-3 times a day. It is also possible to use as an application with the help of gauze swab attached by a patch. It is possible to prescribe such drugs:

  1. Tetracycline ointment. It is based on the antibiotic ciprofloxacin, which has a wide range of effects on bacteria.
  2. Levomekol . Combined drug in which all components are involved in the healing process. Has antimicrobial effect and promotes skin regeneration.
  3. Oflokain. Ointment has an antimicrobial and analgesic effect.
