Levomekol ointment is a drug for external use, which was developed in the late 1970s. To whom this remedy is shown, what are the features of its use, we will consider further.
Levomecol ointment composition
Levomekol is a combined preparation, consisting of two active substances:
- chloramphenicol antibiotic;
- immunostimulator methyluracil.
Ointment does not contain auxiliary substances, therefore, the therapeutic effect is achieved only through the combined action of the above-mentioned active ingredients.
Pharmacological action of the Levomecol ointment
Ointment perfectly penetrates deep into tissues without damaging biological membranes, while providing the following action:
- antimicrobial;
- anti-inflammatory;
- regenerative.
Levomekol is active against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, rickettsia, spirochaete and chlamydia. The bacteriostatic effect of the drug is due to the inhibition of protein biosynthesis in the cell of the microorganism. In this case, the presence of pus and a large number of dead tissues does not reduce the antimicrobial effect. The drug promotes early recovery of tissues.
