Carcinoma of the stomach - malignant neoplasm. Of the multiple varieties of oncology, this occurs most often. It is characterized by the formation of mutated cells on the mucous membrane, which in no way participate in the digestive process, and subsequently turn into a tumor. In most cases this form of cancer is diagnosed in men, but women can suffer from an ailment.
The causes of low-grade gastric carcinoma
This is an oncology, and therefore, it is impossible to name the only true cause of its appearance. Predisposing factors are usually:
- infection with Helicobacter pylori;
- hereditary predisposition;
- abuse of smoked products, pickles and products containing nitrates;
- atrophic gastritis ;
- a bad ecological situation.
Symptoms of carcinoma of the stomach
The first and most common sign of stomach cancer is a sharp weight loss. Accompanying losing weight usually unpleasant sensations in the stomach, problems with appetite, nausea, vomiting. Some patients notice an aversion to fish and meat.
In addition, carcinoma of the stomach is accompanied by such symptoms:
- pallor;
- feeling of a full stomach;
- sharp mood swings;
- fast fatiguability;
- apathy.
When the metastases spread to the peritoneum, ascites may develop.
Treatment of carcinoma of the stomach
If oncology is detected at an early stage, it is rational to carry out a stomach resection. In this case, the organ can be removed completely or partially. To carry out the operation in the presence of metastases does not make sense. In this case, radiation or chemotherapy will be more effective.
The prognosis for carcinoma of the stomach is often unpleasant. The earlier the disease is diagnosed, the more likely the patient to survive. But, unfortunately, the percentage of deaths with gastric cancer remains high.
