Dental floss

As you know, you need to visit the dentist every six months. Most people do not like to treat their teeth, and some even feel panic at the door of the ill-fated cabinet. The primary task of those who do not want to be at a dentist's reception is oral hygiene. Regular brushing of teeth prevents caries and stimulates blood circulation of the gums. But even the most modern toothbrush is not able to clean two sides of the tooth from five. Speech, as you probably already guessed, is about the interdental spaces. The correct name is approximated surfaces, where caries most often begin, because the usual brush does not cope with cleaning out plaque and pieces of food. Especially for the hygiene of such hard-to-reach places, the use of dental floss is suitable.

How to clean your teeth with flossing?

When a person first takes a thin thread in his hands, a natural question arises: how to use the floss correctly? The method of application is simple, the main aspect in this cleaning is a careful attitude to the gums. A small piece of thread (25-40 cm) is wound on the middle fingers of your hands, and then pull it with the thumb of one hand and the other one. With care, insert the tensioned thread into the interdental space and lower it to the gum itself, without injuring it at the same time. Several times, draw the thread up and down, pressing it against the contact surface of the tooth. Each time slightly shifting the thread and using a clean piece, pass between all the teeth. Operate gently in relation to the gums, with inaccurate cleaning, cuts or damages of tender gum tissue are possible. The use of dental floss should occur after each meal, as well as immediately before brushing your teeth.

Types of dental floss

When choosing a dental floss, note that there are two of its types: multi-threaded nylon and monofilament of Teflon. For different problems and different teeth, threads also need different. To begin with it is necessary to be defined, you need a round or flat thread. The rounds perfectly clean large interdental spaces, and flat ones, on the contrary, will be able to penetrate between densely located teeth.

Depending on the treatment, waxes and waxes are distinguished. The waxed dental floss is impregnated with wax, which prevents its separation, and also facilitates penetration between the teeth. The uninvasive thread, on the contrary, is stratified and, as a result, cleans a large surface of the tooth. To get used to this procedure, dentists still recommend starting using waxed flat threads.

For medicinal purposes, the thread is often treated with various solutions. For example, chlorhexidine provides a disinfectant, and sodium fluoride strengthens the enamel. In addition, the thread may have a taste of menthol or fruit.

On sale, you can easily find the thread in special containers. Usually this is a box with a lid, inside of which a coil is located, and the length of the thread is about 50 meters. A special cutter is provided for easy separation of the required amount threads. Also, there are threads on plastic holders that are shaped like a slingshot. This shape is compact and convenient to use, easily fits into the smallest handbag or pocket.
