A puncher is a tool used to punch circular holes around the edges of paper. There are two types of such tools - a mechanical or electric punch for paper.

- Paper size. The most common model is a punch for A4 paper. But there are tools for paper of other formats, for example, A3.
- Ability to punch a certain number of sheets. Using a punch hole, it is possible to punch openings in sheets of paper with a quantity of 10 to 300 pieces. A powerful tool, capable of punching a large number of sheets, is intended for use in the printing industry. It is called an industrial paper punch.
- Distance between holes. Punchers can have a different distance between the holes. The standard distance is 80 mm. The European standard, for which most punchers are designed, is 80/80 / 80mm. Also there is a Scandinavian size - 20/70/20 mm. The standard diameter of the pierced holes is 5.5 mm.

When buying a punch, pay attention to the following characteristics:
- punch hole power (how many sheets it is capable of punching);
- number of punched holes;
- material from which the puncher body is made. It can be made of plastic or metal. Metal tools are more durable and reliable;
- size, color, punch design.
