Attractions in Yessentuki

In the center of the city there is a picturesque park in which there are sanatoriums, drinking galleries and various hospitals that have been built here for two centuries. The park is divided into lower and upper. Both these parts are connected by a beautiful staircase, which is built by cascades. On its entire length there are various arches and fountains.

In the upper park there is the building of the Royal Upper Baths, which was built as far back as 1899 by the order of Tsar Nicholas, and therefore the second name is the Mykolayivs. Here you can still take baths to normalize the functioning of the endocrine, nervous and musculoskeletal system.

The building of the mud baths was built in the style of neoclassicism in 1915. Here, visitors are surrounded by figures of deities of ancient Greek mythology. Like the ancient Roman yards is equipped with a local patio decorated with lion statues. Muds for treatment are brought here from the Tambukansky Lake, which is located in the mountains twenty kilometers from Yessentuki. During the war there was a hospital here.

The representative of wooden architecture in Essentuki is the St. Nicholas Church of the Two Deputies. It is in excellent condition, and in fact it was built a long time ago - in 1826. The initiators of the construction were Cossacks - the founders of the city. Near the church in 1991 was erected a four-meter stone cross, and in 1997 - a monument to the Cossacks. All these symbols are a tribute to the Cossacks who gave their lives for the fatherland.

In the lower park there are drinking galleries # 4 and # 17 near each other. These are the most popular local mineral waters. Gallery No. 17 is the first stone building in the city. It is located at the entrance to the spa park. A gallery building with Moorish elements was built, but in general the classical English style is sustained. Every day it is visited by thousands of people who came here for health. Essentukskie mineral waters are medicinal, and therefore they can not be consumed as dining rooms. For their appointment, a doctor's consultation is necessary.

Perhaps the most beautiful and unusual natural landmark of the city of Essentuki are the Weeping Caves. From the vaults of these grottoes, the water that seeps through the soil acts in the form of drops that fall from above, form a small lake. Already from the lake, water is again absorbed into the soil and, passing through the layers of the Alkaline hill, flows out at the foot of the mountain in the form of mineral water, familiar to us as "Narzan."

The arbor "Oreanda", located in the upper park, is a kind of observation platform with a beautiful view of Elbrus and the foothills of the Caucasus. At the beginning of the last century, when this gazebo was built, there was a telescope so that vacationers could admire the surroundings. But today it is visited little by tourists, since reconstruction has not been carried out for a long time and the building is in decline.
