In the oldest city of the Saratov region - Khvalynsk - in 2005 a ski resort was opened. Of course, in the Volga region you will not find high mountains, but the terrain here is quite hilly, and the Privolzhskaya Upland was an ideal place for the creation of a ski complex. In Khvalynsk there is a unique thermal spring, which you will not find in any ski resort in Russia . "Khvalynskie Termy" is a spring water heated to a pleasant temperature of 30-35oC and purified by ions of silver. Also, Turkish hamam, a Finnish sauna and a SPA salon are at guests' disposal. All this is perfect for a country holiday not only in winter, but also in summer.
Sights of Khvalynsk
In addition to the ski resort, in Khvalynsk there are other attractions.
In the town you can visit two museums - local history and art-memorial. Of special interest is a picture gallery named after Petrov-Vodkin with unique paintings and old icons.
The most memorable architectural sight of Khvalynsk is the local Cross-Vozdvizhenskaya church erected in the XIX century. Also unusual are the stone church on Sennaya Square, the houses of the merchants Chertkov and Kashcheev, the dacha of the merchant Mikhailov-Kuzmin.
