Feast of Kurban Bayram

In the Muslim religion the holiday of Kurban-Bayram is considered one of the most important, it is also called the day of sacrifice. In fact, this holiday is part of the pilgrimage to Mecca, and since not everyone can make a trek into the Mina valley, sacrifice is accepted everywhere where believers can be.

History of Kurban Bayram

At the heart of the ancient Muslim holiday of Kurban-Bairam lies the story of the prophet Ibrahim, to whom the angel appeared and ordered his son to be sacrificed to Allah. The Prophet was faithful and obedient, so he could not refuse, he decided to perform an action in the Mina Valley, where Mecca was later erected. The prophet's son was also aware of his fate, but resigned himself and was ready to die. Seeing the devotion, Allah did so that the knife did not cut, and Ismail remained alive. Instead of the human sacrifice, a ram sacrifice was accepted, which is still considered an integral part of the religious holiday of Kurban-Bayram. The animal is prepared long before the days of pilgrimage, it is well fed and tended. The history of the holiday Kurban-Bayram is often compared with a similar motif of biblical mythology.

Traditions of the holiday

On the day when the holiday is celebrated among the Muslims of Kurban Bairam, believers rise early in the morning and begin it with a prayer in the mosque. It is also necessary to wear new clothes, use incense. There is no way to go to the mosque. After the prayer, the Muslims return home, they can gather in families for the joint glorification of Allah.

The next stage is returning to the mosque, where believers listen to the sermon and then go to the cemetery where they pray for the dead. Only after this begins an important and unique part - the ram's sacrifice, and the victim of a camel or a cow is also allowed. There are several criteria for choosing an animal: an age of at least six months, physically healthy and the absence of external flaws. Meat is prepared and eaten at a joint table, which everyone can join, and the skin is given to the mosque. On the table, besides meat, there are also other delicacies, including various sweets .

By tradition, these days you should not skimp on food, Muslims should feed the poor and needy. Often for relatives and friends make gifts. It is believed that in no case can not be stingy, otherwise you can attract sorrows and misfortunes. Therefore, everyone tries to show generosity and mercy to others.
