How to make a swing at the cottage?

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Determine the desired size of the swing. The size should depend on the total area of ​​the site and the expected location of the swing. It should not take up too much space or vice versa be too discreet. However - this is a matter of everyone's taste. Be sure to take into account how many people the swing is designed for. Think about the width and depth of the seat and the height of the backrest.
  2. Choice of materials. In this manual, the garden swing is made of pine. In fact, the tree species does not play a particularly important role, because whatever the tree, the main thing is that the boards have a sufficient thickness. After all, they must not only withstand you. Suddenly friends will want to have fun and ride on a swing together!
  3. Preparation of tools and materials. You need to check if you have all the necessary tools, and whether they are all working. You will need:
    • Circular saw;
    • hacksaw;
    • a strong hammer;
    • Measuring tape;
    • gon;
    • drill.
    You will also need screws, screws and 15 boards measuring 25 × 100 mm and a length of 2.5 m.

  5. Prepare the boards of the chosen length. To do this, take 7 boards measuring 25 × 100 mm and measure the desired length. Then carefully saw the boards on the marks. Angles should be 90 degrees - straight.
  6. Mounting the pillars on the table to support the boards. We fix the clamp so that the boards do not slip during cutting.
  7. Saw off the required number of slats. Then drill each bar.
  8. Identify the bend pattern. This element of the swing is made from a board measuring 50 × 150 mm.
  9. Saw 6 identical parts of the swing frame.
  10. Select the backrest angle. By connecting the frame of the backrest and seat, saw off unnecessary ends.
  11. Drill the guide holes for the screws. To connect the backrest and seat use self-tapping screws with a size of 4.5 × 80 mm.
  12. Lay the straps on the frame. Screw the ends of the bar to the outer frames, and the center to the center.
  13. To check if all angles are straight, use a square.
  14. Make the armrests. To do this, you need to cut a wedge about 330 mm long from a board measuring 50 × 150 mm. He will be a support for the armrests. Then cut out for each armrest on a board with a length of 550 mm. The width from one edge should be 50 mm, and on the other - 255 mm.
  15. Attach armrests with screws 4.5 × 80 mm in size.
  16. Make two holes with a drill - at the bottom of the armrest support and in the frame (at the top of the seat). Insert the screws and tighten them well.
  17. The last step is to hang the swing. To do this, secure with a carabiner chain with rings.
