Gun holster

To be a good hunter you need not so much: a keen eye, a firm hand and easy perfectionism. The latter is especially relevant in the storage and care of weapons, because any negligence in this matter can cause great trouble. That is why today we decided to devote a conversation to a gun case - an accessory that every self-respecting hunter can not do without.

Why a rifle?

A person far from hunting and firearms may find it strange that additional accessories are needed to store such a thing as a gun. It would seem, hang the gun on the wall or lock it in the safe and no more trouble. In fact, the case plays a rather serious role, protecting the weapon from getting dust and dirt, drying out the lubricant and breaking the optics. Therefore, its acquisition is not a whim and not a fad, but a serious and responsible step.

What are the covers for guns?

More recently, only one type of protective clothing for guns could be found on sale - soft covers. Most often they were made of tarpaulin, which has sufficient wear-resistant characteristics and can protect against water from short-term contact. Now times have changed for the better and you can easily buy not only soft, but also hard or semi-rigid cover for the gun. Than they differ from each other we will understand more in detail.

Soft gun case

Soft covers are called casings that do not have a rigid frame and are made of one or more layers of durable material: tarpaulin, nylon, cordura (modern nylon-based material) or crozza. Such cases are convenient in that they can easily be rolled up and hidden in a backpack, while they occupy the minimum amount of space and almost nothing weigh, which, you must agree, is also important for hunting. With their protective properties, they cope, which is called "hurray", besides, they are pleased with the purse with a budget value. Therefore, those who are looking for a balance between reliability and low cost should pay attention to the soft case for the gun, for example, a sock-toe. To a higher price category can be attributed soft covers, the material for which is the skin. With proper dressing and careful use, the leather case for the gun will last for several decades, only getting better with the years. But practically not different from the skin, dermantinum will not be the best purchase, since it has the property of losing elasticity (tanning) at low temperatures.

Semi-rigid gun case

Made of modern water-repellent fabrics or specially made leather, semi-rigid covers are designed to carry the shotgun assembled on the shoulder. For this purpose, they have special reliable belts and handles. To prevent damage to the weapon in the process of transportation and the optics are not lost, the inner part of the boot is filled with anti-impact material, in the role of which foam is used most often. The disadvantages of such cases include their cumbersomeness and impressive weight, as well as the fact that when it's wet, the cover will have to be dried for a long time, which is often impossible in the field.

Hard gun case

Hard cases or cases are designed for long-term storage of weapons or for transportation over long distances. The weapons in them are stored in disassembled form, with each of the parts having its own recess in the base of the absorbing material. In addition, in the cases are provided pockets and for various weapons accessories (brushes, brushes, grease, etc.). They make such cases of leather, plastic or aluminum, and for reliability are equipped with steel corners and special fittings.
