Gypsum plaster today has found wide application in the alignment of horizontal and vertical planes and preparing them for decorative design - staining or wallpapering. It can be used for finishing the ceiling and walls, it is an environmentally friendly material and does not release hazardous substances. The basis of the plaster is gypsum with the addition of modifying additives, which increase the adhesion of the material to the wall surface.
Features of gypsum plaster
Gypsum plaster has found application, both for internal, and for external works. The composition for interior finishing is intended for premises with low humidity. Due to the characteristic plasticity and astringent property, it is able to cope with practically all irregularities, large wall defects, up to damages and holes. Plaster based on gypsum does not crack even at a significant thickness of the applied layer.
External plaster can be used in rooms with high humidity.
By composition gypsum plaster can be divided into categories:
- fine-grained, is applied for layers no more than 8 mm.
- medium-grained, the most popular option, its thickness can be up to 5 cm.
- coarse, used when the wall needs to be plastered with a thick layer.
The compositions used for facade work - gypsum-polymer and gypsum-mineral, are supplemented with modifiers, which increase frost resistance and strength of the material. To obtain the desired shade of the surface, dyes can be added to the mixture.
Currently, gypsum plaster has found wider application than traditional cement plaster due to its smooth texture, plasticity and low cost. The wall, covered with such a material, practically does not need to be puttyed, and for any finish you can apply any technology you like. Of plaster based on gypsum, it is also possible to form a decorative structural surface using molding tools.
For gypsum plaster casting, manual and machine methods can be used. When buying a material, you need to pay attention to the way it is applied, which can vary for certain solutions.
