How correctly to plant pepper on seedlings?

Sweet peppers are no less popular among gardeners and truck farmers than tomatoes or cucumbers. They even have more vitamin C than in tomatoes, not to mention other useful substances. Beginning with the end of February, you can start planting their seeds on seedlings. About how to properly plant pepper on seedlings and how to care for it - let's talk in our article.

Growing pepper seedlings at home

There is no difference between how to plant a hot or sweet pepper on a seedling, because in terms of agrotechnics they are almost identical. What is important for some varieties of pepper, it is similarly useful when growing other varieties.

And since pepper refers to those cultures that are extremely uncomfortable with the various impacts on the root system, we'll look at how to plant peppers on seedlings without picks to avoid unnecessary trauma to the tender roots.

Seed preparation

So, we begin the preparatory work as early as the end of February, in order to plant the seeds in the soil in early March. First, the seeds need to be discarded, removing the small and empty ones. The best carriers of genetic information are seeds of medium size.

Selected seed soaked in a solution of potassium permanganate for 30 minutes, then rinsed under warm water and placed in a growth stimulant solution. Instead, you can just hold them for a couple of hours in warm water. Then the seeds are placed on a damp napkin and covered with a damp rag on top. Putting them in a warm place, you need to wait until the seeds "proklyutsya."

Landing in the ground

On this preparatory stage of pepper seeds is over and it's time to learn how to plant pepper on seedlings. It is best to use a light peat soil soil, it can be mixed with ordinary garden soil in a proportion of 1 to 1.

With this mixture, we fill polyethylene bags from sour cream or mayonnaise, having previously folded them half and cutting off the lower corner for the outflow of excess moisture. Packed with earth bags are firmly installed in a box or box.

The soil must first be poured with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, and then put 1-2 seeds in each pouch, sprinkling them with 1 cm of soil. After that, the entire box should be covered with a film and put in a warm place with an air temperature of + 25..27ºС.

Care of seedlings

Periodically check the crops - the soil should not dry out. Approximately 5-10 days, the first shoots will appear. Immediately move the box to a bright place. The film should be removed gradually - first open one of its edges, and then completely remove it.

You can water the seedlings only with warm and settled water. It is important not to overdry or wet the soil, because both are harmful to pepper. Soil should always be slightly moistened.

Once in 10 days, seedlings need to be fed with mineral fertilizers and peat oxide. The temperature of maintenance of growing seedlings should be at a level of +23ºС in the daytime and 16-18ºС at night.

When the roots of grown-up peppers occupy all available space, you need to carefully deploy the sachets and fill the ground. Such a gradual expansion of the space will have the best effect on the growth of seedlings, because you will not in any way damage its roots.

Of course you can immediately grow seeds in separate cups, but still they will become cramped over time. And if you plant the seedlings in larger cups, this will lead to acidification of the soil and its slow development by the roots of pepper.

When growing the same in bags, capricious pepper will grow, not subject to picking up until the landing in the greenhouse. Another advantage of packages is in the simple extraction of seedlings. Peppers are very easy to get out of a soft bag and, together with an earthen lump, to transfer to the prepared hole. In the end, you get seedlings with well-developed horses and powerful greenery.
