How to insulate the floor in the country?

Summer cottages are often built in a hurry, without preparation and a well thought out plan. Initially, everyone wants to spend there only a couple of summer months, when it's not necessary to heat the room and warm it on the street. But often the situation changes drastically, many sometimes completely move out of town, giving up an apartment to children or renting it out. Others like to meet in the nature of New Year or Christmas and do not want to do it in a cold house. So people have questions about the warming of the floors in the country. You can solve this problem. The technology of these works is not very difficult and can be done by any owner.

Insulation for the floor in the country

Someone chooses cheap foam for these purposes. The price is really much lower than for other materials. But we must remember that he is very fond of gnawing mice, turning a very quickly beautiful sheet covering into a pile of garbage. It is better to replace the foam on extruded polystyrene foam, which does not rot, has good density, and perfectly insulates the floor or walls from the cold. Also often used basalt cotton wool, which is strong enough, does not burn, and copes well with temperature changes. Other heat-insulating materials are porous expanded clay, technical cork, perlite. If you will settle the material between the lags, then the load on the heater will not be. You can safely apply mineral wool or any loose materials. But when you have a laminate or linoleum laid directly on the concrete floor, it is desirable to take a heater that has a good density.

Warming of a wooden floor in the country

  1. Dismantling of the old floor.
  2. On the pavement, lags are installed (in increments of 100 cm).
  3. Between the lags on the boards and shields of plywood is settled insulation material. On both sides of the insulation must be protected with a waterproofing gasket (polymer film or others).
  4. On top of the log lies a vapor barrier layer. Suitable foamed penofol. It consists of a layer of foil and foamed polyethylene.
  5. Installation of a finishing floor is carried out.

Ideally, the installation of floors in the country should be a kind of sandwich:

The thickness of the insulation depends on the material itself and how often you will use your holiday home. If the owners live here only in the summer, then a 100 mm layer is enough. In the case when the room is used all year round, it is better to lay at least 200 mm of material. It is very good if the whole house is "shrouded" with an eco-wool or other thermal insulation compound, and siding, lining or other finishing works are installed on top. Then the warming of the floors at the dacha will give an even greater positive effect.
