In any interior, the window is given special attention, and the kitchen in this creative work is no exception. Of course, to buy ready-made curtains in our time will not be a huge task. But, nevertheless, more interest for the hostess is a curtain made by themselves.
Choosing which curtains to sew in the kitchen, you need to remember about the special requirements for the fabric. It is in this part of the house that the atmosphere is most aggressive. Hot air from the plates, frosty air from the window, dirt and fumes emanating from the hob - all this negatively affects the state of the curtains. Therefore, today's preference is not given to luxury curtains, but to more compact curtains.
Based on these considerations, the craftsmen of their business invented many ways how to sew curtains to the kitchen independently and beautifully. You do not need to be a professional to cope with this creative task. It is enough to stock up with the necessary material and patience, and the result of the work, as a rule, pleasantly pleases with exclusivity and economy.
To prove this, in our master class we will show you how to sew Roman curtains to the kitchen . To tailor this model we will need:
- opaque linen cloth;
- lining;
- "Skeleton" from old blinds;
- sewing machine;
- quick-drying glue (which does not leave stains on the fabric);
- scissors.
How to sew Roman curtains in the kitchen?
- To begin with, we measure the window parameters - 1200 x 800 mm. It is this size and will be our curtains in finished form.
- We measure the piece of fabric equal to the dimensions of the window, while leaving 10 mm on each side for allowances, for processing the edges and 40 mm for the bottom edge, a pocket into which the weighting bar will be passed.
- On the resulting piece of fabric we put the same piece of lining. Using a sewing machine, we cut the fabric sections with one seam by adding the allowances in half.
- We take the workpiece from the old blinds. We need the distance between the bars on the curtain to be about 20-25 cm, so we remove the excess strips.
- With the help of glue, the resulting "skeleton" is attached to the lining. Rings with a cord leave free, so that the curtain can be folded.
- Next, well spread the glue weighting agent (the upper lath of the blind) and wrap it with the bottom edge of the fabric. The place of fixing the cord on the fabric is cut with scissors, then, securely glue the ends to the bar.
- That's what we got. As you can see, it is possible to sew this curtain directly into the kitchen with your own hands easily and quickly.
