Marigold snail

Decorative snail marisa - a beautiful striped assistant in the aquarium, came to us from South America from the tropical climate. There it lives in rivers, swamps, lakes with lush vegetation.

The snails are distinguished by a pretty sight: a spiral shell of four curls, painted in warm colors from greyish-yellow to orange-brown, and adorned with numerous longitudinal strips. The body of the cochlea is grayish or yellowish with small pigment spots. There are mutations of snails without strips, in which case the shell of the snail is completely yellow. The size of the mollusk is from three to three and a half centimeters.

Marises slowly and smoothly move around the aquarium, and watching them is a pleasure.

Conditions of keeping the cochlea mariza

With food from the aquarium snail Maris does not have problems. They eat pieces of dead plants, bacterial plaque, other animals' eggs, dry food. Snails actively eat live plants , so not very suitable for aquarium herbalists. In general, they are considered rather voracious.

To ensure that snails do not eat all the vegetation, they should be actively fed, especially with aquarium mixtures and flakes.

In many ways, these mollusks are unpretentious, but there are certain requirements for maintenance to water. Optimum parameters are the temperature of 21-25 degrees, they are very sensitive to water drop. Hardness parameters are from 10 to 25 degrees, acidity is 6,8-8. If the water in the vessel does not meet the required standards, the shell of the cochlea begins to break down and soon it dies.

These molluscs are two-sexed, male individuals are light beige shades with brown specks, and female - dark brown or chocolate with a divorce. Caviar is laid under the leaves and after a couple of weeks young individuals appear from it. The number of eggs is up to 100 pieces, but not all mollusks survive. Control the growth of the population is important manually - to transfer the eggs and young growth into a separate container.

Marizas are peaceful and quiet inhabitants who get along with many kinds of fish . But, in order to preserve the marise, it is not recommended to plant them together with cichlids, tetraodines and other large specimens.

The life span of the cochlea is 4 years on average. If you create the right conditions for the marise and feed it with special flakes, it will actively spawn, benefit from cleaning the aquarium, and brighten it.
