Menopausal hormone therapy

Menopausal hormone therapy is a set of measures that are aimed at restoring the hormonal background of the female body. Let us consider in more detail what kind of process it is and we will focus on the preparations that are assigned during its implementation.

When do hormone replacement therapies usually begin?

As is known, the onset of the climacteric period in the female body is determined genetically, i.e. the extinction of the reproductive function does not occur at the same time in different women. It is statistically established that in the representatives of the European population this period falls on 45-55 years. In this case, the peak of menopause is observed in 50 years.

The very process of aging the sex glands, the ovaries, begins early enough, after 35 years. Acceleration of it is observed when a woman crosses the line in 40 years.

Based on the foregoing, the female body needs hormonal support after 50 years. In this case, everything depends on the severity of the symptoms of menopause.

What drugs are used to conduct menopausal hormone therapy?

To implement this type of treatment on an ongoing basis, only natural gestagens are used. Among these can be called Estron, Estriol.

From preparations containing estradiol in their composition, use Estradiol valerate or 17b-estradiol.

The gestagens are used in very small dosages, which provides the so-called secretory transformation of the endometrium (change in the inner layer of the uterus). At the same time they are taken together with estrogen for no more than 10-12 days.

The complex treatment of climacteric syndrome also necessarily includes drugs that exclude the development of osteopenia (a disease accompanied by a violation of bone density). As such drugs, calcium-containing tablets are used.

Treatment of this kind is prescribed for certain indications, with a pronounced climacteric syndrome, for example. When conducting menopausal hormone therapy, a woman must adhere to the clinical recommendations given by the doctor, for which treatment is carried out all over the world.
