Mölsäcker

Sweden is a country where traditions and history are honored and carefully monitor the safety of national attractions . Among its historical monuments is the castle Mölsäcker - the most beautiful building on the shore of Lake Mälaren .

general information

Mölsäcker Castle is located in the countryside, 80 km from the capital of the kingdom, Stockholm . No one knows the exact date of the founding of the castle, but its first mentions are found in the 17th century. Then it belonged to the family of Goobs, who decided to restore it. To perform the work was invited to the architect Nicodemus Tessin. Under his direction, wings, a terrace and a staircase were attached to the main building. The interior and facade decoration was done in classical style and baroque.

The next stage in the history of Mölsäcker Castle was the end of the 18th century. The von Fursen family changed part of the buildings, fitting them to the rococo style, but the upper floors were left unchanged. After 100 years, Mölsäcker was bought by engineer Oke Sjögren, who carried out a large-scale modernization, equipping the building with electricity and central heating. In 1945 the castle was badly damaged by the fire, but after half a century it was restored to the drawings. Now the building is fully consistent with what it was in the XVII century.
