Mulled wine - a recipe for cooking at home

The bright and rich taste and stunning aroma of hot mulled wine will warm you after a chilly autumn or winter walk or will be an excellent addition on a winter picnic. Your friends or relatives will appreciate the proposed version of the aperitif, as there is no better option for this purpose in the cold season. For a children's audience or for those who do not drink alcohol, you can offer a non-alcoholic version of the drink, replacing wine with grape or apple juice.

We offer recipes for the preparation of mulled wine at home from red and white wine, as well as a variant of a non-alcoholic, spicy hot drink.

Preparation

In a pot with a thick bottom we pour filtered water, add cloves, nutmeg, ground ginger, a stick of cinnamon and heat the mass to a boil. Then remove from heat and let it brew under the lid for ten minutes. Further filter the broth through several layers of gauze, add wine, sugar, pieces of apple or orange and heat the mixture over medium heat. When heating, we follow the temperature of mulled wine. It should not exceed seventy degrees, otherwise its taste will be hopelessly spoiled. We give the drink again to stand, covered with a lid for ten minutes, and we can serve by pouring on glasses or ceramic cups.
