Municipal Theater named after Ignacio Pane


The Ignacio Pane Municipal Theater is located in the heart of Asuncion and is the largest cultural object of the Paraguayan capital.

Historical reference

Initially, the building of the theater, erected in 1843, housed the National Congress. A decade later, it housed a music school, whose work was headed by the teacher Francisco Sauvajote de Dupuy. In 1855, the building was modernized and became known as the National Theater. The pompous opening ceremony was held on November 4. The festive program consisted of a comic opera and a musical intermission. It was from this time began the existence of the Municipal Theater Pane.

Modernity

The theater is located not far from the building of the Government of Paraguay and the Pantheon of Heroes . Today, his audience can enjoy staging performances in the classical style.
