Museum of Antiquities

The Museum of Antiquities ( Tel-Aviv ) is located on Kidumim Square in an old house that was built in the 18th century, when the territory was under the rule of the Ottomans. The exposition of the museum is a huge number of archaeological finds. Some of them are dated by the rule of Ramses II, but there are also those that were found by scientists in our time.

What is interesting about the Museum of Antiquities?

By age, the Museum of Antiquities is quite young, but in terms of the richness of the expositions it is not inferior to anything else in Tel Aviv museums. The founder of the museum is the scientist-archeologist Kaplan, who led the excavations in Jaffa.

Thanks to visiting the museum, tourists will be able to learn more about the history of the ancient settlement of Jaffa. It is mentioned in the Bible, but under a different name is Joppa. Visitors will see tools, utensils and ornaments, as well as household utensils, lamps and much more that can tell about the development of Jewish culture. Since the place was strategically important, here and there fights broke out. In memory of this, there are many artifacts stored under the glass in the windows.

Many tourists prefer the building and its exterior to the taste rather than the internal contents, and this is no accident, because the house has a rich history. There used to be a repository for books, a prayer house and even a factory.

The museum has both permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions, so tourists have a chance to see unusual exhibits, like an exhibition of dolls from different countries. Among them are illustrations of a children's newspaper, as well as counterfeit paper, origami. The museum actively cooperates with artists, scientists of Israel and other countries.
