When a child comes into the family, they try to protect him from various infections, colds and other illnesses. While the baby is with mom, it's easy enough to do it, but as soon as we give our crumb to the children's collective, then our "walking through the agony" begins: various colds, diseases associated with rashes on the skin, sore throat, bronchitis - that's an incomplete list What families have to face. One of such diseases that children "bring" from kindergarten or school is mycoplasma. It is transmitted by airborne droplets, and most often affected children are immunocompromised, often those who have recently suffered a cold.
It should be noted that basically this "sore" affects the respiratory system and nervous system, and, unfortunately, has a protracted character. Among the variety of mycoplasmas, there is a kind called Mycoplasma pneumonia, found mainly in children. Getting into the blood, the disease damages the respiratory tract and causes the child to suffer any age, especially hard to endure her babies. And if the kid picks up the flu and any other respiratory disease, then a full-fledged development of pneumonia in crumbs may occur.
Diagnosis and treatment
The fact that quite often the mycoplasma masks itself under the usual cold is sad, and it is very difficult to diagnose it. The microbes of the disease are not visible in a normal microscope, their fragments can be detected only by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or by ELISA (immune enzyme analysis) to find antibodies in the blood. I am glad that mycoplasma in children is treatable. With a mild illness, a doctor prescribes antihistamines, drops in the nose, narrowing vessels, expectorants, in general, everything that is usually used for common ARVI. If the disease has acquired a severe form, then only antibiotics will help. An important role, of course, is played by the microclimate in the family - love and attention work miracles!
Symptoms of mycoplasmosis in children
The incubation period of the disease usually lasts one to two weeks, but it can also take 25-30 days. Mycoplasmosis in children of different ages occurs with its own characteristics, here are some of its symptoms:
- nasal congestion, runny nose, cough (last about 2 weeks);
- increase in temperature (in children of schoolchildren, it can rise to 38-40 ° C and stay for several days);
- lethargy, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite (mainly in children of school age);
- pain in the abdomen, bones and joints, in the head (pupils of the senior classes are exposed);
- blueing of fingertips and nasolabial triangle (with severe disease);
- increased heart rate (with concomitant pneumonia).
Prevention
Treatment of mycoplasmosis in children is carried out quite well (up to 95% of the cure rate), but the baby can remain a carrier of the virus for several more months. On average, the disease lasts two weeks, but if you manage to join and pneumonia, then about a month. As a preventive measure, doctors recommend isolating the baby from the team for seven days,
I want to calm my parents, modern medicine has reached unprecedented success in many areas, and banal respiratory mycoplasmosis in children, which, incidentally, is more common, doctors have learned to diagnose and treat well. Do not panic and ask yourself "where does the baby get mycoplasma," do it better with it, drink vitamins, increase the immunity of the baby, because a special splash in this disease, like other colds, falls on the cold season. Do not give the disease a chance to prevent your little one from enjoying a full life even for a moment!
