What if my baby has a stomachache?

Unfortunately, even the most caring parents find it difficult to avoid childhood diseases. And the most difficult to diagnose are diseases accompanied by considerable discomfort in the peritoneum and stomach. Therefore, the question of what to do, if your child has a stomachache, should be studied very carefully.

Possible causes of pain in the abdomen

Abdominal pain can deliver a lot of unpleasant sensations to your baby and require special attention from mom and dad. In some cases, they cause a very serious condition of the small patient, and in particularly neglected cases can lead to death. Therefore we will consider, from what the stomach at the child can be ill:

  1. Babies are simple: usually this is the accumulation of gases and colic associated with the immaturity of the gastrointestinal tract. It is important for you not to miss a more serious illness, therefore it is absolutely necessary to show the child to the doctor.
  2. Acute inflammation of the appendix, in which the pain is localized just below the navel. Therefore, if the child complains that his stomach hurts and, in addition, he has vomiting, high body temperature, diarrhea with a mucous consistency of the stool, immediately call an ambulance to dispel the most terrible fears.
  3. Inflammatory processes occurring in the stomach, the small and large intestines, which are traditionally called in medicine gastritis, enteritis and colitis. Very often they are of an infectious nature and very dangerous for crumbs due to the risk of sepsis.
  4. Invagination of the intestine (in parental usage this disease is called the turn of the intestines). At the same time the child is very sore and as if "suffice" the stomach, and frightened parents do not know what to do.
  5. Pancreatitis, in which the pancreas improperly produces enzymes, destroying itself.
  6. Food poisoning. During them, the baby usually suffers from pain in the upper abdomen.
  7. Physiological malformations, infringement of a hernia, severe trauma.
  8. Intestinal infections that can lead to serious consequences for all systems and organs of your child.

What can be done when a child has a stomach ache?

Of course, a loving mother will try everything to ease the condition of her crumb before the doctor's arrival or an ambulance. Without an accurate diagnosis, it is not recommended to proceed with any serious procedures, but you can do the following:

  1. Lay the baby and place the ice-bladder on the stomach. It is strictly prohibited before the arrival of a specialist to give painkillers or drugs for diarrhea, and also feed a small patient.
  2. If the child is nauseous and has a stomach ache, do not panic: recommendations, what to do in this case, are unambiguous. Open the window and ask the baby to breathe deeply to make it a little easier. As a first aid pediatricians are advised to give solutions for rehydration in small portions (Oralite, Glucosolan, Regidron) or simply slightly salted (a teaspoon of salt per liter) water. It is known what to do if the baby still vomits and still has a stomach ache: ask him to drink a weak solution of potassium permanganate, to completely clean the stomach, make an enema at the rate of 0.5 liters per kilogram of body weight and be sure to turn your son's head or daughter on your side if they are in bed.
  3. In case of stomach upset, food intake is strictly forbidden and the same solutions for rehydration will be very helpful. In the absence of ready-made medicines, dissolve a liter of water for 1 teaspoon of salt and soda and a tablespoon of sugar. Offer it in small portions, if the child has a stomach ache, diarrhea is observed, and you are at a loss what to do in this case.
