The causes of neurosis in children
The most common neuroses in children and adolescents are due to chronic stress, for example, constant quarrels and scandals in the family, or an unfavorable situation in the school or kindergarten. In addition, neuroses can provoke the following reasons:
- acute stresses, such as a serious fall, an accident or a strong fright;
- diseases of the mother during pregnancy, various diseases, hereditary predisposition;
- lack of sleep, as well as excessive workload in school;
- excessive severity and pressure of parents.
Symptoms of neurosis in children
The most common signs of neuroses include:
- increased excitability;
- fatigue;
- decreased appetite;
- sleep disturbance;
- sweating;
- coldness of limbs;
- headache;
- hysterical fits;
- nervous tics.
Types of neuroses in children and adolescents
There are the following types of children's neuroses:
- Anxiety neurosis. Typical symptoms appear in case of fear of darkness, loneliness and much more.
- Hysteria is a seizure, in which a child can lie on the floor, beat his head against the wall and so on.
- Neurotic stuttering often occurs after a strong fright.
- Sleep disorders are the most common type of childhood neuroses. Can occur in children of any age.
- Enuresis , or urinary incontinence, usually occurs at night, due to serious psychological experiences.
Treatment of neuroses
Treatment of childhood neuroses should be carried out exclusively under the supervision of a qualified psychotherapist. In addition, parents need to reconsider their relationship to each other and to the child, surrounding him with attention and care.
