Nolin - care

Bokarney, Nolina, elephant's leg, horse's tail - with what only names do not reward this palm tree! Indeed, it looks rather curious: a thick denuded stem and a bunch of thin hard leaves on top. It is difficult to form a crown of Nolines - it is possible only with the proper care of a palm tree. But how to care for this flower and what conditions will be optimal for nolines? That's about this now and we'll talk.

Care for Nolina or Bottle-tree at home

Not only does this flower require no special care, it can even sometimes be forgotten to water it, nothing will happen - the water stored in the swollen base of the trunk will allow Noling to survive this trouble. Ideally, to provide nolines watering abundant, but rare - the land between watering should dry up. It is better to use the lower irrigation method, immersing the pot with the vine in the water and leaving it there until the top layer of the soil is wet. And abundant watering in summer at high temperatures is gradually reduced by cooling. If the nolina is contained with a period of rest, at a temperature below 10 ° C, then watering is completely worth stopping. If in winter the temperature does not drop below 15 ° C, then watering should be the same as in summer. But it is worth remembering that for nolines, excess moisture will be fatal, so water it when the ground is still wet.

As for the maintenance temperatures, here, too, nolin is not very demanding and tolerates fairly low air temperatures and swings, because in nature these palms grow at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, where negative night temperatures are frequent. In the summer, valine can be taken to the open air, but you need to find a place that will be protected from rain and wind.

There are no special requirements for nolines to humidity, which simplifies the care of the plant even more. Do not need constant spraying and additional tricks to maintain the humidity. It is enough to wipe the leaves with a damp sponge from time to time. Sometimes you can sprinkle the crown with warm, boiled water in the summer. Do this in the morning or evening. Spraying during the day at the hottest time of the day is not recommended.

As you can see, it's easy to take care of Nolly, even her top dressing is not always required. But if you really want to pamper your plant, you can feed it with liquid mineral fertilizers. Do this no more often, once every 3 weeks, and the concentration of fertilizer is 1.5-2 times lower than indicated on the fertilizer package. Feed the plant only after a lot of watering, and only during a period of active growth, since as an overabundance of nitrogen in the soil will make the leaves of Nolines soft. It is also possible to dilute organic fertilizers very much and to feed the plant with them. But, once again it is worth recalling that nolina in most cases is wonderful without fertilizers and feeding is really required for the plant rarely.

Transplantation of Nolines

Transplant the plant only after the roots completely fill the container in which noline grows. Young flowers should be transplanted approximately once a year, and for older nolines, transplanting is required approximately every 3-4 years. Transplant nolines in a pot of larger diameter, but the depth is better left about the same. The ideal container for the plant is not very deep and wide, a peculiar bowl. The first 4 days after the transplant, watering the valine is not necessary.

Reproduction of Nolin

Most often, nolin is propagated by seeds and sometimes by side processes. Seeds before planting are soaked in the stimulator for a day or two, after which they are planted in a moist soil consisting of equal parts of sand and peat. Seeds germinate in the light, so they put a container with them in a bright place or specially lighten them with lamps. The temperature is necessary 21-25 ° C, watering a moderate, so that the soil is always slightly moist. After 3-4 weeks, the seeds germinate and when the seedlings are strong, they can be transplanted into separate pots.

If the nylin is multiplied by lateral processes, then the process is immediately rooted and covered with a jar or polyethylene. After the plant has new leaves, the can is removed.
