Pula Paiar is located in the northern part of the Strait of Malacca, near the western coast of the peninsula of Malaysia, 35 km from the Langkawi Islands and 75 km from the island of Penang .

History of the park

In order to preserve the unique marine life, the ecosystem and all its inhabitants, the Government of Malaysia has put forward a proposal to establish a marine reserve. It became the first nature conservation site on the western coast of the peninsula of Malaysia, and thanks to the rapid development of tourism and the growing number of tourists, Pula Paiar quickly became a popular vacation spot in the country.

What is interesting about the Pula Paiar Marine Park?

The island with a park of the same name is rather modest: the length is just over 2 km, and the width is almost 250 m. At the same time Pula Paiar is overgrown with impassable jungle, and for this reason tourists are not allowed to go deep into the reserve.

Visitors who came on an excursion to the park are offered:

First tourists on a catamaran are brought to the island of Pula Paiar to a floating platform (its dimensions are 49x15 m, fixed on special anchors that do not spoil the soil), on which the underwater observatory is installed. Here you can rent a boat, fins and masks, dive straight from the platform, dive under the water or just swim. For the convenience of visitors over the platform, the tent is stretched, there are deckchairs for rest and showers. Fishing in these places is prohibited, but feeding sharks is allowed. In the straits you can see several dozens of various corals, many fish (including moray eels, groupers and sharks), shrimp, lobster and hermit crabs.

Lovers of sunbathing in front of the platform expects a small beach with clean white sand. There are strict rules of conduct: litter, run and jump along the beach can not, because in the upper layer of sand live crabs and lampreys, which hide in the day from heat. Therefore, be careful and walk along the beach unhurried step.

When is it better to visit the park?

The most favorable time for visiting the Pula Piar Marine Park is from February to November. Because of the influx of tourists at this time it is better to sign up for a trip in advance.
