In the western part of the island of Java , in the province of Banten is the National Park Ujung-Coulomb. It includes the volcanic group Krakatau , the islands of Panayitan, as well as some small islands in the Sound of the Sound. The area of the park is about 2106 square meters. km, and the sea is occupied by 443 sq. km. km of them. In 1991, Ujung-Coulomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the low-lying rain forest here.
What's interesting about Ujung-Coulomb?
In the Ujung-Kulon National Park, tourists come not only to observe the unique flora and fauna, but also to engage in active sports. Here travelers are expected:
- The current Krakatau volcano is 813 m high today. Before the eruption in 1883, the volcano was higher, but the disaster destroyed the main part of the island, and Krakatoa became noticeably lower. - The island of Panayitan is famous for its surf spots. But novice surf enthusiasts are not recommended to master this art here, because often on the coast there are giant waves, which only experienced surfers-professionals can cope with.
- The Ujung-Coulomb fauna is represented by unique Javan rhinoceroses - very rare animals, with only a little more than 30 individuals remaining on the earth. In addition, here live bulls-batengi, brilliant gulmans, silvery gibbons, macabi crab-eaters, Javanese leopards, small Javan deer. The park is inhabited by rare species of reptiles, amphibians and birds. But butterflies with a wingspan of up to 20 cm amaze your imagination with their bright colors.
- Flora of the park. Here grow more than 57 species of rare plants: bean and myrtle trees, a large number of endemic species of orchids, etc. Most of the park is covered with multi-tiered virgin rainforests, marshes and mango thickets.
Features of visiting the park
The main entrance to Ujung-Kulon is in the village of Taman Jaya. In the park administration you can buy tickets for visiting the park and pay for medical insurance, hire a porter, guide or rent a boat.
In Ujung-Coulomb visitors can:

How to get to the place?
The most affordable and cheapest option is to get to the Ujung-Kulon National Park by bus. It leaves in West Jakarta from the terminal Kalideres, and you need to get there before Labuan, after spending about 3 hours on the road. From there, on this same mode of transport, follow up to Taman Jaya - the nearest settlement before entering the park. But remember, the bus departs from Labuan only once a day, around noon.
From Labuan to Taman Jaya can be reached by boat (3-4 hours) or by boat (1.5 hours).
