The beautiful name Alas-Purvo belongs to the National Park of Indonesia, located on the east coast of the island of Java on the peninsula of Blambangan. In the literal translation from Indonesian, the name of the park means "the forest from which it all began." Indonesians tell a legend, which says that it was in this place that the earth first looked out from under the boundless ocean.

The area of ​​the Alas-Purvo National Park is 434.2 square meters. km. It is one of the largest reserves in Indonesia. The decision to establish another protected area was made in 1993.

What is interesting about Alas-Purvo Park?

The park's geography is monsoon forests, savannah, thick mangroves and beautiful beaches . On the territory of the reserve is Mount Lingamanis, its height is 322 m above sea level. The local Plengkung beach has a wide reputation among the surfers from around the world thanks to the excellent left waves.

Comfortable tropical climate favorably affects the rapid growth of vegetation. On the territory of the Alas-Purvo Park you can find the laurel of Alexandria, Indian almonds, sterile, mannalkar, Asian barrington and other interesting plants. In the boundaries of the Alas-Purvo National Park, the corners of the wild are everywhere.

The creation of the park has a favorable effect on the preservation of such populations of endangered species as the red wolf, olive turtle, bissa, green peacock, banteng, mangy thin-beater, green turtle and japanese jungle bug.

How to get there?

The official office of the administration of the Alas-Purvo National Park is located in Banyuwangi. From there organized groups leave with an excursion to the territory of the reserve. Before entering the park, you can also take a taxi from any locality on the east coast or on a rented car.

In the park there are several tourist routes, along which you can move on foot or by bike. The entrance to the park is paid: $ 17 for each tourist + $ 1 for each bicycle.
