Season in Cyprus

A holiday, held in Greece on the island of Cyprus, has long been no surprise. For many, this Greek resort has become familiar and loved. Thanks to the beautiful nature, a lot of entertainment for every taste and purse, Cyprus every year, visit hundreds of thousands of tourists. But when it starts and ends the holiday season in Cyprus, not everyone knows. It is about the characteristics of the tourist season on this island and will be discussed in our article.

Beach season in Cyprus

There is an opinion that the beach season in Cyprus is endless and when you do not come there, you can enjoy swimming in the warm and tender sea. In fact, this, of course, is not the case. If you take the country as a whole, the holiday season in Cyprus begins in May and ends in October. At the end of May the sea is still quite cool, but already quite suitable for swimming. And warm and even hot weather pleases until October. In winter it is cold and even snow can go. When choosing a time to visit Greece, you need to remember that:

  1. To come to the country of Hellenes is better in May-June, when the sea is already warm enough, and the air temperature has not yet risen to critical levels.
  2. So beloved by many for the holidays July-August is not the best, but you can even say that the worst months for a holiday in Greece. First, during this period in Cyprus is a terrible heat (up to + 45 °), which can not be carried by a few. Secondly, in July and August in Greece, too, begins the period of holidays, so many entertainment institutions, clubs and restaurants are closed. Add to this the sky-high prices and crowds of tourists and you will realize that rest in the second half of summer at Greek resorts is not the best idea.
  3. What to do if the holiday falls on the second half of the summer? In this case, it is better to choose Greek islands for recreation, the climate on which is much softer due to sea breezes. The longest swimming season in Greece lasts on the island of Crete: from early April to late November. Winter in Crete is very mild, we can say that there are practically none, and by the beginning of April the sea is warming up to the permissible temperatures for swimming.
  4. Since September, in Greece comes the velvet season. Impossible heat leaves, giving way to warm sunny days, and the crowd of tourists is considerably thinning. But it should also be taken into account that in the northern regions of the country it can fall sharply in the fall, so it is not necessary to postpone the trip there until the middle of the autumn.

Given all of the above, we can say that of course in Cyprus you can rest all year round, but the most comfortable and health-sparing rest will be here in May-June or September-October.
