Selfish behavior

Selfish behavior is typical of many people, especially in modern society. Often a similar character trait appears in childhood, when parents allow their child to do everything, so long as he does not cry and be happy. With age, the causes of selfishness are due to the fact that a person goes on about their own desires, not paying attention to others.

Signs of a selfish person

For such people, the recognition and approval of others is very important. They try to perform any actions solely for the benefit of themselves. Communication with a selfish person is always different, because whatever topic is being discussed, a person takes it over. Another sign is admiration and excessive concern for appearance. In the case of a neglected situation, selfishness turns into egocentrism and in such a state the enthusiasm for oneself is so high that a person simply does not notice what is happening around.

How not to become selfish?

There are several rules that will help prevent or overcome this trait of character:

  1. Try not to think about yourself in the first place. Learn to give in to others in different situations, for example, skip someone in the queue. It is important to understand in which situation you can retreat, and where not, so as not to end up behind everyone.
  2. Try to project yourself into the place of another person. This is especially true in the case of selfish love, when one partner does not take into account the feelings of the other. In any critical situation, you need to stop for a second and think about what the opponent feels. Thanks to the regular practice of this exercise, selfishness will soon be forgotten.
  3. Learn to share happiness and give attention to other people. It is very important to learn to rejoice over the successes of others. For many, this is a rather difficult task, but it is quite feasible.

If a person can calmly perceive and understand criticism, then it is definitely impossible to call him an egoist.
