Soft tissue sarcoma - symptoms

Soft tissue sarcoma is considered one of the most dangerous diseases. It is a malignant disease that affects the connective tissue, tendons, muscles and ligaments. It differs from other types of oncological diseases with progressive and very rapid growth, as well as frequent relapses. But if treatment of soft tissue sarcoma begins immediately after the onset of symptoms, the survival rate of patients is very high.

Clinical picture of sarcoma

Very often soft tissues sarcoma is asymptomatic and, only by passing tests, you can diagnose the disease. The main reason for going to the doctor is the appearance of a knot or swelling of an oval or round shape. The size of this new growth can be only 2 cm, and can reach 30 cm. The nature of its surface depends on the type of tumor. The boundaries of the node or swelling are usually clear, but with a deep bedding difficult to determine. In this case, the skin is not changed, but over the tumor there is a local increase in temperature.

One of the first, most characteristic and important signs of soft tissue sarcoma is the network of enlarged subcutaneous veins, skin ulceration and infiltration and cyanotic coloration of the skin. The mobility of education is always limited.

The main symptoms of sarcoma

It is rather difficult for a patient to suspect a disease like soft tissue sarcoma - the symptoms are very different in different cases, because they depend on the location and prevalence of the tumor. The most common signs of this disease:

  1. Edema, which causes pain and increases - basically this symptom is accompanied by a neoplasm, located superficially, so it is mistakenly regarded as the result of a sports or other injury. In the absence of treatment, edema can cause a violation of the function of the affected organ (for example, restriction of leg mobility).
  2. Visual disturbance - soft-tissue sarcomas located in the orbit region, initially look like a painless bulging of the eyeball, but later causes pain and visual impairment.
  3. Nasal congestion - tumors that arise in the nose, often close the nasal passages and cry out a sniff.
  4. Increased pressure in the eyes or paralysis of the facial nerve - these symptoms occur when the sarcoma area is damaged at the base of the skull.
  5. Constipation , vaginal bleeding, blood in the urine - these and other unpleasant sensations appear in patients when the tumor develops in the urinary tract or genitals and reaches very large dimensions.

Occasionally, sarcoma leads to deformity of the limbs, because of which there is a feeling of gravity when moving.

Symptoms of the sarcoma of the upper and lower extremities

Articulated on the arms, lower leg or on the thighs of soft tissue sarcoma is manifested by such symptoms:

A large neoplasm located on the lower limbs can affect the condition of the hip joint. Danger This kind of sarcoma consists in the fact that if the tumor is formed from bone tissue, because of the massive muscles of the thigh, it will remain unnoticed for a long time. At the same time, the risk of fracture of the femur is increased in patients, as the bone tissue is very weakened.

In addition, with sarcomas of the upper and lower extremities, tumor nodes often give distant metastases. This causes the appearance of symptoms of the disease in other organs. A more favorable prognosis for soft tissue sarcoma can be given when the tumor is small in size.
