Sunflower oil - good and bad

It is unlikely that there are in our time mistresses who imagine their life without sunflower oil. At the same time, very few people know that we had it only 200 years ago, just as few people know in full what benefit and harm sunflower oil carries for our body.

Composition of sunflower oil

Sunflower oil is a product that contains only fats, and there are no carbohydrates and proteins in it at all. The basis of this product is oleic and linoleic fatty acids.

The first is replaceable, has a large nutritional value, takes part in the construction of cell membranes and is contained in sunflower oil in an amount of 24-40%. The second, linoleic acid, irreplaceable. In the human body, it must come with food. Its content in this oil is 46-62%. In addition to these two, other acids are present in sunflower oil, but in very small quantities. This is stearic, palmitic, myristic, arachidonic acid.

Sunflower oil can be refined and unrefined. These two species differ not only in smell and appearance, but also in composition. Unrefined oil contains up to 60 mg (per 100 g of oil) of a substance such as α-tocopherol. It is better known as vitamin E. As for the refined oil, α-tocopherol is much less in it, but its content is still high compared to other vegetable oils.

As you know, of all substances entering our body, fats are the most high-calorie. Of 1 g of fat, when it is digested with digestive enzymes, about 9 kcal are released. Based on this, you can calculate how many calories in sunflower oil. Since it is 99.9% fat, we get the following formula: 100 g butter x 9 and get 900 kcal.

Useful properties of sunflower oil

Rich in unsaturated fatty acids, sunflower oil promotes the formation of cellular membranes and membranes of nerve fibers, which subsequently remove harmful cholesterol from the body. For this reason, it improves the condition of the walls of the blood vessels and is a means to prevent myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis.

The use of sunflower oil is explained by the presence of vitamin E in it, which prevents aging of cells, makes capillaries less fragile, promotes the synthesis of myoglobin and hemoglobin, protects cells from aging, reduces permeability and fragility of capillaries.

People who know how useful sunflower oil, use it in alternative medicine. It helps to heal skin damage, with its help you can eliminate migraine, ear and toothache. It is used for rheumatism and arthritis, for chronic diseases of the lungs, liver, intestines and stomach. It is also the basis of many ointments.

Cleaning with sunflower oil

Even ancient Indian physicians came to the conclusion that with the help of oil you can cleanse the body. Many people use this method today. For this purpose it is better to use unrefined sunflower oil without admixtures of other vegetable oils. This is done so. It is necessary to take in the mouth 1 tbsp. l. oil and, holding it in front of the mouth, suck, like candy, about 25 minutes. Do not swallow it, as when sucking it becomes dirty. The oil first thickens, then becomes liquid, in a consistency resembling water. Then you need to spit it out. If you see that it has become white, it means, having absorbed all the poisons and neutralizing them, it turned into a poisonous liquid. If the oil is yellow, the process has not been fully completed. It is recommended to carry out this procedure in the morning and in the evening, and, for the first time on an empty stomach.
