Synovitis of the knee joint - treatment

Degenerative changes in tissues, mechanical injuries, infections, rheumatic pathologies, metabolic disorders and other problems negatively affect the functioning of the musculoskeletal system. All these conditions provoke a synovitis of the knee joint - the treatment of this disease is a complex of therapeutic measures. They are necessary for both relief of symptoms and for eliminating the effects of the inflammatory process.

Treatment of reactive synovitis of the knee joint

Initiation of acute and allergic therapy of the disease in question involves an attempt to find out the exact cause of its occurrence, as well as determine the nature of the inflammation (purulent or not). For this, a synovial fluid is drawn from the affected joint, a puncture. Often at this stage, pumping out the contents of the joint capsule.

Immediately after puncture, the knee must be immobilized. As a rule, a tight pressure bandage is applied, but in severe cases a tire with simultaneous application of local cold is required. Stabilization of the joint is short-lived, not more than 5-7 days.

Further therapy involves medication:

1. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs:

2. Glucocorticoids (in difficult situations):

3. Antibiotics:

4. Means that improve microcirculation of blood:

5. Antithrombotic medications:

6. Salicylates:

Identically treated posttraumatic synovitis of the knee joint. If the liquid continues to accumulate rapidly after the first puncture, its pumping is regularly repeated with the introduction of special preparations into the cavity of the knee - Trisilol, Gordoks.

Additionally, physiotherapy is prescribed (from the 3rd day of treatment):

After relief of acute inflammation, massage and special gymnastics are recommended. They allow to restore the mobility and functionality of the limb.

Treatment of chronic synovitis of the knee joint

The recurrent form of the described pathology is characterized by a constant or repeated inflammatory process of low intensity with the release of a certain amount of effusion into the joint cavity. In such cases, it is advisable to add proteolytic enzyme inhibitors to the above-described course of therapy. Also effective are medications that reduce the permeability and stabilizing membranes of lysosomes, chondroprotectors.

Preparations for the treatment of moderate and severe chronic synovitis of the knee joint:

If the described therapy is ineffective and frequent exacerbation of the disease, a surgical operation is recommended - sinovectomy.

Treatment synovitis of the knee joint at home

Independent attempts to cope with the considered disease not only will not succeed, but can provoke the transition of the acute form of synovitis into a chronic variety. Therefore, doctors strongly do not recommend self-medication and uncontrolled use of folk remedies, which, incidentally, do not affect the cause of synovitis, but only struggle with its symptoms.

The only acceptable drug for home use is an ointment with an extract of comfrey grass.
