The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory

Among other amazing sights of Lesotho , stands out a religious building, which is a huge interest for tourists. It is not just a Catholic church, but also a major historical heritage. It's about the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory, which today is active and is visited daily by hundreds of Catholics from around the world.

Features of the architecture of the cathedral

The cathedral is located in the capital of Lesotho Maseru and is located at the very entrance to the city, which speaks not only of its significance, but also that the religion was at the heart of the life of the soto (the local population). The architecture of the temple is low-key and executed in the traditional colonial style. The building has a very immodest size, which stands out among the one and two-storeyed houses of Maseru. The symmetrical majestic façade welcomes the guests of the city and immediately presents the capital as the territory where the main historical events of Lesotho took place.

To the main hall of the Cathedral there are two tall towers with a rectangular shape. Despite their identical shape, the structure they have different, which is immediately visible through the windows. One tower has vertical rows, almost entirely over the entire height, three rows of windows, and the other has four horizontal rows with small windows, which makes the tower more closed. Both towers "finish" large crosses.

Next to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory is the Catholic school of St. Bernardino, which operates at the temple. And in 700 meters from the main sight Maseru there is a central park. Therefore, an excursion in this part of the city will bring a lot of pleasure to tourists.
