The child has red cheeks

Not always pink baby's cheeks are a sign of good health. Sometimes they signal about unfavorable processes taking place in the child's body.

Why and why does the child have red cheeks?

If you notice that your child's cheeks (or one cheek) have turned red all the time, or mostly in the evening, most likely it is a sign of an allergy. The scientific name for red (and also rough or flaky) cheeks in a child is exudative-catarrhal diathesis or a dairy scab. In the first year of a baby's life, the overwhelming majority of parents face this problem to some extent. Seeing the child's unhealthy red cheeks, you need to find the cause (allergen) as soon as possible and eliminate it, to prevent diathesis from developing into a more serious disease (atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis), chronic allergic rhinitis (rhinitis), etc., up to bronchial asthma).

Red cheeks in infants

The cause of red cheeks in an infant (breastfeeding) should be sought in the feeding of a nursing mother. Remember what you ate in the last three days, whether there were potential allergens in your diet during this period (chocolate, citrus fruits, strawberries, carrots, cow's milk, etc.). Eliminate all dangerous products. Again, you can try them only when the child has allergy symptoms. And to enter these foods into the diet should be with caution, no more than one product per week, in small quantities. And be sure to follow the reaction of the baby. Let yourself a piece of chocolate, and your favorite cheeks turn red again - you will have to deny yourself this delicacy before the end of breastfeeding.

Red cheeks in an artificial child

The red cheeks of the artificial child, who is not yet familiar with the lure, will clearly let mom know that the baby is allergic to cow's milk. It is a part of most infant formulas, and yet an allergy to it in children is a very common phenomenon. What to do? To begin with, try to give a mixture of another brand. If the irritation on the cheeks does not pass, it will be necessary to temporarily transfer the child to a special, hypoallergenic mixture (instead of cow's milk it contains protein hydrolysates or soy milk).

It is impossible to constantly feed a child with such a mixture, since it does not contain enough of all the substances necessary for normal growth and development. In addition, many children simply refuse to eat it (as it was with the son of the author of this article). Then you will have to get your baby a mixture of goats based on goat's milk - it's not cheap, and not everywhere you can buy it, but, unfortunately, for some parents this is the only way out. And of course, such an artificial allergy sufferer needs to be introduced earlier than other children.

Red cheeks in a child after a year

If your one-year-old child, who is well acquainted with the lure, has red cheeks-it is clear that the allergen must be sought directly in his diet. The scheme of search and exclusion of a poorly tolerated product is the same as for babies. We exclude all potential allergens (often it's carrots and all red and orange fruits and, again, cow's milk), wait for the disappearance of unpleasant symptoms and then introduce the products that are questioning one at a time during the week, watching reaction.

It happens that a food allergy leads to diathesis. If you are sure that the diet of your child does not contain allergens, and cheeks all the same redden, try to change children's cosmetics, washing powder, and maybe even your own perfume.

In addition to eliminating the allergen, it does not hurt to take care of the baby's skin directly, help her to calm down and recover. For this, when bathing a baby, use herbal infusions: it is good to soothe and regenerate the skin of the child, chamomile, mountain ash, medinitsa, echinacea, chicory. It is not necessary to mix grass, one type is enough. Add the infusion to the bathing bath until the redness is gone.
