Often the preparation for the fall festival in school or kindergarten becomes a real test not so much for children as for their parents. And this is not surprising, because before the parents becomes a task in a short time to prepare for the child a carnival costume of some kind of vegetable or fruit. Needless to say, the task is not easy. Today, the conversation will focus on how to make a pea suit for children.
A pea suit for a girl with her own hands
For the girly costume of green peas we will need:
- A long T-shirt or a knitted nightgown of a gentle green color;
- a piece of felt dark green;
- flexible fluffy wire;
- sewing machine;
- thread;
- glue.
Let's start making our costume
- Let's start work on the costume with a cap. It should simulate the top of a pea pod, which means it should have a pointed shape. For the cap, take a square piece of felt and fold it four times. Having built one of the sides, we get a pea cap-cap.
- Without unfolding felt, we cut out its edges in the form of pointed leaves. The slits should be deep enough to reach the middle of the cap. To ensure that the cap comfortably sits on the head and does not creep into our eyes, we measure the comfortable length of the middle seam, equal to the distance from the center of the head to the line of hair growth.
- As you know, the pea plant is creeping, clinging to everything with its antennae. Antennae for our costume will be made of fluffy wire, fixing several pieces at the top of our cap.
- Leaf-field caps to the top to open the face. Gently fix them in a raised position with glue or simply sewing.
- The front part of our suit is decorated with peas cut from a dark green felt. Attach the application using glue or stitching on a sewing machine.
Costume of peas for a boy with his own hands
To make a pea suit for a boy also does not make much effort, although the elements in it will be somewhat larger. So, our suit will consist of four parts: a hat, a vest, panties and golf. Of course, we will not sew a golf or a T-shirt, we will take ready, light green or, in extreme cases, white. But for the manufacture of panties and a vest you will have to remember the sewing skills. Fabric for sewing is better to take a little wrinkles, with a slight sheen, for example, satin. A suit of felt or fleece will also look good.
For sewing we will need:
- a piece of light green color, best satin;
- non-woven fabric;
- felt;
- sintepon;
- packing decorative tape;
- thread.
Getting Started
- Taking as a basis the girth of the child's head, we cut out an elongated cap from the fabric. We sew it together and in order to keep it in shape, we fill it a little with a sintepon. We decorate the cap with peas, sewn from felt or appliqué in the form of a pea pod.
- Using any pattern you like, we cut out a vest from the fabric. For example, you can cut a waistcoat according to our scheme. Sew it on the side and shoulder seams, sewing into them pieces of packing tape for gifts - the antennae of our peas.
- Golf or T-shirt is decorated with peas of different sizes, placing them on the body from the largest at the waist to the shallowest on the chest.
- Using the pattern you like, we cut out trousers from satin fabric. We grind all the seams of the trousers, inserting in the side pieces of the packing tape for gifts.
- Our green pea costume for the boy is ready!
