Tile for mosaic

Mosaic is an impressive way of finishing walls with a rich ancient history. Previously, mosaic elements were decorated with walls and columns in palaces, icons in temples. Masters had to work on creating an image for several months, since in those days the panels were made of their small broken pieces of glass and tiles. To select the rounded elements, you had to break the tile into many small elements, and then select each one in such a way that sharp angles and chips do not appear in the figure. To make a high-quality color rendition, a number of shades were used, each of which needed to be properly arranged in the figure.

Today, the art of mosaic has become somewhat simpler due to the appearance of modern technologies for laying tiles. Small elements are mounted on a mesh and paper base of a rectangular or square shape. The installation of such a tile for mosaic does not take much time, since workers get rid of the need to carefully select each piece of tile. The sheets are simply attached to the glue solution with the required distance between the "chips".

Mounting Features

First you need to choose the right tile. Here the most important are two factors: the size of the mosaic and the type of material used. For detailed pictures with high-quality color reproduction, small tiles will be required, and for a simple repeating ornament - tiles of medium size. If you want to achieve a gentle flicker, then use a mosaic made of artificial granite or marble. Vivid saturated colors will give Venetian glass and smalt.

After selecting the finishing material, you can proceed with installation. During laying, you must adhere to the following principles:

Great value when laying performs the type of tile used. So, the ceramic tile for mosaic is glued to a standard adhesive solution, and the glass tile is fixed only to the glue mixture of white, otherwise it will have an undesirable shade.

Interior solutions with mosaic

This type of decoration is not an expensive pleasure, therefore it is often used by wealthy owners of country houses and villas. In modern apartments there is also a place for a decorative panel of small tiles:

  1. The kitchen . Here, the so-called "apron" adorns the tiles. This is a narrow strip between the table and the hanging cabinet, which is most prone to pollution and temperature effects. The kitchen uses ceramic and stone tiles for mosaic. Here, one-color saturated color surfaces or thematic panels with images of fruits, still lifes and unobtrusive patterns are relevant.
  2. The bathroom . It is here that the tile looks most organic. Mosaic can be used for facing the entire bathroom, or for highlighting individual elements (bathroom screen, part of the wall, floor). For the bathroom use a tile for mosaic with a glossy effect or a repeating gentle ornament. Some owners prefer a panel with a picture of flowers, fish or plot drawings.
  3. Swimming pool . Cassettes with a mosaic of several tones are used here. Most often, designers experiment with shades of blue, as they most harmoniously look under the water surface. Tiles under the mosaic for the pool should be laid in compliance with all technological rules, otherwise it can quickly come to an unfit state.
