TV Tower (Alor Setar)

The height of the television tower in Alor Setar reaches 165.5 m. This figure makes it the highest telecommunications tower in the world. The most interesting thing here is:

Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the restaurant revolves around its axis, and due to this, visitors can enjoy the surrounding urban landscapes. From the windows of "Seri Angkas" you can see not only the whole city of Alor-Setar, but also the neighboring Butterworth, which lies on the palm of your hand. In addition, in clear weather you can see even Thailand. The restaurant prepares delicious dishes of traditional Malaysian and international cuisine.
  2. Observatory. It is another feature of the tower and specializes in observations of the moon. Indicators of when and in what phase it is located, are used to designate the holidays (Ramadan, Uraza-Bayram, Kurban-Bayram, Shawwal, Zul-Hijjah, etc.) and the beginning of the months of the Islamic calendar. The viewing platform, belonging to the observatory, is located at an altitude of 88 m. The entrance here is paid. How to get to the sights?

Trains run from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar regularly, which are serviced by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad. Those who plan a trip by car, it is better to choose a route through Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan / E1. On this highway to the road without taking into account traffic jams will take about 4.5 hours.

The TV tower is located next to the Alor Setar railway station. In 700 meters from the landmark is the bus stop Terminal Transit Bas Telok Wanjah. From the bus stop to the TV Tower, Jalan Istana Lama Street can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes.
