In the heart of Alor Setar is one of the city's outstanding landmarks - the telecommunications tower, which the Malaysians in their native language call Menara. The TV tower is the first and important construction in Alor Setar, which tourists pay attention to. In addition, it is a vivid symbol of the rapid development of the federal state of Kedah.

- A restaurant. At the very top of the building a unique restaurant "Seri Angkasa" was opened. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the restaurant revolves around its axis, and due to this, visitors can enjoy the surrounding urban landscapes. From the windows of "Seri Angkas" you can see not only the whole city of Alor-Setar, but also the neighboring Butterworth, which lies on the palm of your hand. - Observatory. It is another feature of the tower and specializes in observations of the moon. Indicators of when and in what phase it is located, are used to designate the holidays (Ramadan, Uraza-Bayram, Kurban-Bayram, Shawwal, Zul-Hijjah, etc.) and the beginning of the months of the Islamic calendar. How to get to the sights?
Trains run from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar regularly, which are serviced by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad. Those who plan a trip by car, it is better to choose a route through Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan / E1. On this highway to the road without taking into account traffic jams will take about 4.5 hours.
